ACHA Cancels 2020 Annual Meeting in Naples

TROY, Mich. – (March 17, 2020) – The American Collegiate Hockey Association, the governing body for non-varsity college hockey in the United States, announced today that out of an abundance of caution due to public health concerns regarding coronavirus (COVID-19), it has cancelled its upcoming 2020 Annual Meeting which was set to be held on April 23-25, 2020 in Naples, Florida.

“We are following the guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in conjunction with the American Hockey Coaches Association, which conducts its Annual Convention in Naples alongside our Annual Meeting,” said ACHA Executive Director Craig Barnett.

“We are committed as an organization to practicing social distancing in an effort to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19),” said Barnett. “While disappointed to be missing out on the sunshine and camaraderie, we know avoiding crowded places and maintaining distance from others will allow all of us the best chance to defeat this virus as quickly as possible.”

All reports normally issued at the ACHA Annual Meeting will be made available on the ACHA website at www.achahockey.org. Further, all proposals submitted for consideration by ACHA membership for the 2020 Annual Meeting will be held in abeyance and re-submitted for consideration prior to the 2021 Annual Meeting.

The ACHA will continue to provide regular updates regarding the coronavirus and its impact on the ACHA’s upcoming events.
