Most tryouts and early season warm-up games are done and
teams are getting into their regular season schedules. Here’s how the Central
region shakes out this weekend. Add any that are missing.
ISU DII improved after transitioning the program to DI and DII last year. Twelve freshmen on the team all have speed and skill. That being said, you get all of the upside and downside of twelve freshmen. They should be more competitive then last year. NIU has a new coach and has lost some skilled players to graduation but appeared more disciplined then in years past. MACHA Gold should have some parity up and down.
Saturday update: NIU 4, ISU 1. NIU’s goalie played well and stopped any chances ISU had. That being said, NIU was the stronger team on Saturday. ISU struggled with moving the puck out of their zone. Competitive series that ends with a split.
